Cost Estimate Preparation: This cost estimate was prepared on October 25, 2019 for the Spring 2020 semester. These costs are approximations and are subject to change.
Exchange Rate: USD $1 = 25 Cuban Pesos (CUP) (10/25/19)
Lodging and Meals: The IFSA-Butler housing component is guaranteed for students and includes housing while classes are in session and two meals per day. Students will be living with Cuban families in casas particulares which is similar to a bed and breakfast. All rooms are shared with one other student from the program and there are normally four students per casa particular. All rooms have air conditioning, a safety box, access to a kitchen, and a shared bathroom.
Supplemental Meals: Meals are included in the casa particular. This cost estimate is for supplemental meals throughout the semester.
Personal Expenses: This estimate is meant to cover general expenses of college life, including additional course supplies, photocopying, toiletries, snacks, cell phone, etc. Personal expenses do not include any entertainment or vacation travel costs.
Local Transportation: Cost estimate for transportation from airport to casa particular, university, and other travel.
Books and Supplies: The cost for books and supplies is low because most reading material (not all) is passed along via handouts.
