Lodging: The housing fee is based on the housing fees at Residence Hall Ikkyo-Ryo. Students also have the option of living in International House (Kunitachi) or International Village (Kodaira). Students should budget for the housing option they select and also be sure to budget in any additional fees.
Utilities and other housing expenses are not included in the lodging expense. Utilities are calculated as follows:
Meals: 60,000 yen/month for 8 months
Books and supplies: 50,000 yen/semester
Local transportation: 10,280 yen/month for 8 months
Personal expenses: 20,000 yen/month for 8 months
Health Insurance: Japanese National Health Insurance at 1,500 yen/month for 8 months + 800 yen Personal Accident Insurance (mandatory)
Visa: Students may need to travel to a consulate to apply for and/or pick up a visa. These are additional variable costs, to be calculated individually by the student.
Roundtrip Flight from Gateway City: The flight expense listed above is the estimated cost of a round trip ticket from the gateway city of New York to Tokyo. However, you may depart from the city of your choice.
***Students living outside the gateway city may need to arrange for a connecting flight to a gateway city at an additional variable cost, to be calculated individually by the student.
