Recommenders


When a student requests an online recommendation, the Recommender will receive an email notification.

A Penn Recommender can simply log into the application with a PennKey and password. A user menu will appear at the top right of the page. The "Recommender Home" link will allow the Recommender to review pending and completed recommendations.

To submit a recommendation, click on the name of the desired student in the pending recommendations list. Write the recommendation in the WYSIWYG editor and submit it. Note that once a recommendation is submitted, it cannot be altered without the assistance of the Penn Abroad staff. We encourage Recommenders to use this online system to provide ready access to student information for Penn Abroad and academic advisors. However, providing a signed recommendation on department letterhead in a sealed envelope is another option.

Non-Penn Recommenders should receive an email that contains a recommendation ID# and the name of the student who issued the request. Visit the Recommendation ID# entry page to enter this information. If this email contains a username and password, use those login credentials on the NON-UPENN LOGIN form.
